How to Install Xen Server into VMware WorkStation

Citrix Xen Server is built to provide the operational requirements of a standard server and supports most of the servers operating systems, such as Linux and Windows Server, on guest server machines. All on an enterprise-class and truly Open Source cloud-proven virtual platform.
In this Blog, We will see installation and configuration of Xen Server 8.1 on VMware workstation.
System Requirements:-
The Xen Server host must be a 64-bit x86 server-class machine devoted to hosting VMs. Xen Server creates an optimized and hardened Linux partition with a Xen-enabled kernel which controls the interaction between the virtualized devices seen by VMs and the physical hardware.
The system requirements for the Xen Server host are as following according to its recommendations and our used figures.
CPU:- 1.5GHz minimum and 2 GHz recommended
RAM:- 2GB minimum and 4 or more Recommended
Disk Space:- Locally attached storage with 46GB of disk space minimum, 70GB of disk space recommended
Download Xen Server ISO
we have to first download ISO file of Xen Server. you can download form below link.
If we go to into this link we can see below image like window. here we need to login or signup need to download. after the login you have to download Citrix Hypervisor 8.1 Express Edition.
because this version does not have required any permission.
Creating New VM:-
Click to Create a New Virtual Machine of Xen Server and Give Proceed with given step.
In the above image you can see browse button. you have to click and open downloaded xen server ISO file. and click next. Now you can see below image you have to select other or VMware ESX.
Now choose the system resources Like RAM, Hard Disk Space etc. and after processing to the next step you can see Summery of the system Resources.
Here you have take care off minimum Requirements of RAM and Hard Disk Space. RAM should be 2 GB minimum And Hard Disk Should be 47 GB minimum. you have to also select checkbox which show in below image and this check box is available in processor. and you also have select bridged in network section. this all are you can change using customize hardware button which shown in above image.
Setup Xen-Server In VMware:-
Step 1:-
Play the Xen Server form VMware workstation the you have to select the Keyboard type. I personally recommend Us Keyboard type and click Ok to proceed further.
After Reading the Welcome Note click Ok to proceed futher.
In Next Step, You will be asked to choose the disk storage for your Virtual Machine storage. so you have to select optimized option and move further
Now you have to select skip verification if you download your Xen Server for official website. Then choose the installation source from the 3 available option as shown in below image to 'Local media' and click ok to proceed further. and than set the password and click Ok for Next Step.
Choose from the options to configure networking as DHCP for your Management interface on the host. this is allocate you the random IP address every time whenever you open the vm.
Here you have to configure the Hostname and DNS settings as per your requirements. We will be choosing its DNS to set it automatically via DHCP as shown below and then click on the 'OK' button to move to next option.
Select the Time Zone and City to configure the geographical location of your Xen Server Host. than We will be choosing the system time as NTP while you can also choose it from its manual time entry but in that case you have to configure that at the end of installation.
After selecting the NTP option we will configure its settings using the DHCP server and click on the 'OK' key to proceed.
We have configure all the required information for the installation of Xen Server. Now click on the 'Install Xen Server' to confirm that you have are are ready to make changes on your selected disk and the data will no longer be available after installation.
During its installation process you will be asked for New Supplemental Packs, simply skip this step to complete the installation process.
The system will take some time to prepare and complete the installation setup.
After completion of the installation process you will get the Xen Server Installation Complete notification and asked for removal of any local media from the drive and press 'Enter' key to reboot your system.
